How to use OverDrive

OverDrive has thousands of popular and best-seller ebooks, audiobooks, & magazines.

Titles in OverDrive need to be accessed using Libby through a browser or downloaded using an app. After you have done the one-time setup, browse OverDrive from within Libby.

You can also start your search in the Library Catalog.

Who can use OverDrive?

YC student, staff & faculty can use their YC username & password to access YC's OverDrive account.

Community patrons with a YLN public library barcode can access their public library's OverDrive account.

Libby one-time setup

Use Libby to read and listen to OverDrive materials.

  1. Install the Libby app or use the Libby browser app (links on the right).
  2. When asked if you have a library card, select Yes (even if you do not have a library card).
  3. Search for Yavapai Library Network.
  4. When asked, select Choose a location, then select Yavapai College.
  5. Sign in with your YC username & password.
  6. A virtual Libby card will be created.

Can I use the OverDrive app instead?

OverDrive recommends the Libby app for the best experience.

If you choose to use the OverDrive app instead, click to show the one-time setup instructions.

First, install the app & sign in:

  1. Install the OverDrive app.
  2. When asked if you Have an account?, select sign in
  3. Select Sign in using library card
  4. Search for Yavapai Library Network
  5. Select Yavapai College
  6. Sign in with your YC username & password

Second, add a library:

  1. Select Add a library
  2. Search for Yavapai College
  3. Select Yavapai College
  4. Select Yavapai Library Network

Third, sign into OverDrive:

  1. Select Sign In
  2. Select Yavapai College
  3. Sign in with your YC username & password

How to access partner libraries using Libby app

You can access materials from partner Arizona libraries:

  • Apache County Library District
  • Cochise County Library District
  • Flagstaff City-Coconino County Public Library
  • Gila County Library District
  • Little Libraries That Could (Desert Foothills)
  • Navajo County Library District
  • Pima County Library District
  • Southwest Valley Library Consortium
  • Tempe Public Library
  • Yuma County Library District
  1. Open the menu in the upper right-hand corner.
  2. Add a library.
  3. Search for one of the partner libraries (see list above).
  4. Scroll down and select I'm visiting from another library.
  5. Yavapai Library Network > Yavapai College.
  6. Sign in with your YC username & password.
  7. A virtual Libby card will be created.
  8. Repeat for each partner library.
