Barry Golden began at the College teaching part-time. He became a full-time instructor in 1984 at the Verde Valley Campus. He taught Anatomy & Physiology, Biology, Chemistry, and Microbiology classes at first. For awhile, he was the only Science instructor there. As the student population grew and more faculty were hired, his focus shifted to Anatomy & Physiology. He helped design a lab on that campus when bond election money became available.
He moved back to the Prescott Campus after 13 years. While at Prescott, he continued to teach Anatomy & Physiology classes but also began teaching classes on AIDS; those classes were most satisfying for him because it was an opportunity to challenge students to change their behavior.
He enjoyed being in the classroom: he felt that he learned the most about how to teach from his students.
Barry retired from full-time teaching in 2003 and has continued to teach part-time.
Mr. Golden was recognized as Emeritus Faculty May, 2009.

Faculty Appreciation
Students appreciate the following teachers because:
Barry Golden
...he makes learning fun and interesting. This is so important with the stress level associated with his classes. Barry gets on a personal level with his students and really makes every one of us feel important. He shows genuine interest in our progress. I will miss Barry very much when I graduate.
